Job Title: Pool Startup and Service Technician \nJob Location: Varies \nJob Summary: \nThe Pool Startup and Service Technician is responsible for setting up and preparing newly built \npools for use, as well as providing ongoing maintenance and repair services. This role ensures \nthat all pool systems are correctly installed, balanced, and operational, and continues to \nmanage pool care for clients by addressing maintenance needs, troubleshooting, and \nperforming repairs as necessary. \nKey Responsibilities: \nNew Pool Startup: \nEquipment Installation & Inspection: \nInspect and set up pool equipment, including pumps, filters, heaters, and lights, ensuring \nall systems are correctly installed and operational. \nWater Chemistry Testing & Balancing: \nTest and adjust the pool’s water chemistry to ensure proper chemical levels (chlorine, \npH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, etc.). Add necessary chemicals to achieve balanced \nand safe water conditions. \nSystem Start-Up: \nStart up and test pool circulation systems, filtration systems, and pool heaters to ensure \nproper operation. Check for leaks, ensure proper flow, and make sure all systems are \nrunning efficiently. \nTroubleshooting & Adjustments: \nTroubleshoot any issues with pool systems, equipment, or water chemistry during \nstartup. Make adjustments or minor repairs as needed to ensure everything operates \nsmoothly. \nSafety Equipment Verification: \nVerify that pool safety equipment, including skimmers, ladders, and covers, are properly \ninstalled and functioning. Ensure compliance with local safety standards and regulations. \nClient Education: \nProvide pool owners with guidance on proper pool care, maintenance routines, and \nchemical balancing. Offer instruction on the proper use of equipment and water safety. \nDocumentation & Reporting: \nKeep accurate records of daily visits, complete manufacturer testing requirements, and \ncomplete warranty registration. Provide detailed reports for both the client and \nmanagement. \nOngoing Pool Service & Maintenance: \nRoutine Maintenance & Inspections: \nPerform regular pool service visits, including inspecting and maintaining pool equipment, \nchecking water chemistry, and ensuring systems are functioning properly. \nChemical Testing & Adjustments: \nTest water chemistry during each service visit and add necessary chemicals to maintain \nbalanced water, ensuring the safety and comfort of pool users. \nEquipment Repairs & Troubleshooting: \nIdentify and repair any mechanical, electrical, or plumbing issues with pool systems such \nPage 1 of 2 \n APBI \n Job Description \n Pool Startup and Service Technician \n \nPage 2 of 2 \n \nas pumps, filters, heaters, and automation systems. Troubleshoot and fix any problems \nwith equipment or water circulation. \n Seasonal Pool Opening & Closing: \nAssist in the seasonal opening and closing of pools, including winterization services, and \nensuring equipment is prepared for the offseason. \n Customer Communication: \nCommunicate effectively with clients, provide updates on services performed, \naddressing concerns, and offering recommendations for system improvements or \nupgrades. \n Documentation & Reporting: \nKeep accurate records of service visits, equipment repairs, water chemistry levels, and \nany other pertinent information. Provide detailed reports for both the client and \nmanagement. Provide detailed work order and/or field invoicing records for both client \nand management. \n Expand Customer base \no Reach out to potential customers \no Offer new products and equipment upgrades \no Provide service with the best turnaround time possible \n \nQualifications: \n Experience: \nExperience in pool equipment installation, startup, and maintenance, or similar technical \nfield is preferred. Training can be provided for those with a strong technical background. \n Certifications: \nPool & Spa Operator (CPO) certification or equivalent may be required or preferred. \nAdditional certifications in pool equipment or service are a plus. \n Skills: \no Solid understanding of pool systems, including pumps, heaters, filters, and water \nchemistry. \no Ability to troubleshoot and repair pool equipment and systems. \no Strong knowledge of pool chemicals and how to balance water properly. \no Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge for equipment repairs. \no Excellent customer service and communication skills. \n Physical Requirements: \nAbility to lift and carry heavy equipment, work outdoors in varying weather conditions, \nand perform tasks requiring physical effort. \n Valid Driver’s License: \nA valid driver’s license is required, as the technician will need to travel to customer \nproperties. \n Travel: \no Ability to travel 4 nights a week on a regular basis \no Extended travel may be required to meet dead lines \n \nWork Environment: \n Indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. \n Use of pool maintenance and repair equipment. \n Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule based on customer needs. \n \nJob Type: \nFull-time
