Custodian for Outage Needed ASAP \nPerform a wide variety of custodial duties to maintain the main office building and other assigned areas in order \nto provide a clean, attractive, and safe facility. \nKey Responsibilities: \nTakes ownership of and performs custodian duties in various plant locations, including the main office building \nand other offices as assigned, to assure a safe, clean and attractive facility. \n? Surveys the main office areas, restrooms, lunchrooms, meeting rooms’ walls, floors, office equipment \nand furnishings for condition and cleanliness and determines necessary cleaning and repairs. (E) \n? Performs daily, weekly, monthly and yearly custodial services as assigned and/or necessary. Custodian \nduties include, but are not limited to: \no sweep, mop and vacuum floors \no clean and sanitize bathrooms \no strip, clean and burnish floors \no dust lighting and hand rails \no shampoo carpets \no trash removal \no wash interior walls and windows \no other duties as assigned \n? Maintains and safely operates all cleaning equipment. \n? Maintains and stocks custodian closets with cleaning supplies. \n? Understands and follows all MSDS requirements including the proper storage and disposal of used or \nunwanted materials. \n? Advises supervisor and coordinator, facilities maintenance regarding large scope custodial projects to \ninitiate scheduling for maintenance and/or repairs, purchasing of materials or other requirements as \nneeded. \n? Coordinates custodian projects and efforts with contractors daily. \n? Assists in the instruction and supervision of student help. \n? Performs miscellaneous work tasks and custodial assignments as required. \nAssists with the setup and preparation of facilities for events, meetings, tours, etc. \n? Arranges assembly rooms for events and meetings regularly \n? Arranges assembly rooms, equipment and refreshments for seasonal tours \n? Picks up and delivers meals as necessary. \nUnderstands and follows Rainbow Energy Center’s (REC’s) safety and environmental policies and procedures. \n? Reports all unsafe acts or conditions that may cause injury to plant personnel or damage equipment. ( \n? Reports all noncompliance and work to support all aspects of Rainbow Energy Center’s (REC’s) \nenvironmental program goals. \n? Trains and mentors others, including temporary employees as needed and perform other duties as \nassigned. \nJob Criteria: \nEducation & Experience: Knowledge typically acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent required. A \nminimum of one year prior custodial experience preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. \nKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities: \n? Knowledge and general understanding of janitorial procedures and practices. \n? Knowledge and skills to use basic personal computer applications. \n? Knowledge of handling and disposing of hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens with care. \n? Skill and ability to operate and maintain janitorial equipment including, but not limited to, floor buffer, \ncarpet cleaner, vacuum cleaner, etc. \n? Skills in communication, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate. \n? Skills and ability to provide a high level of customer service. \n? Ability to read, understand and follow MSDS product labels. \n? Ability to read labels and comprehend instructions on various cleansers and products. \n? Ability to read and follow written procedures and instructions. \n? Ability to operate janitorial equipment and perform cleaning activities in a safe and efficient manner. \n? Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects by utilizing strong organizational and time \nmanagement skills to complete work in an efficient manner. \n? Ability to work in a well-organized, self-directed manner; willingness to assist others when needed. \n? Ability and responsibility to work safely alone and with others while following REC safety rules, \ncertifications and procedures. \n? Ability and responsibility to ensure security procedures are followed including immediate notification \nof potential incidents. \nWorking Conditions: \n(The mental and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform \nthe essential functions of this job. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant and facility grounds. Conditions in the \nplant and facility grounds may include extreme temperatures, noise levels, and heights. There will be \ninfrequent overnight travel, overtime and/or working weekends. \nThis position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 20-50 pounds frequently and lifting 51-75 pounds \noccasionally. The ability to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head occasionally \nup to frequently. Ability to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat, work on \neven and uneven surfaces and ability to work occasionally in confined space areas. Ability to frequently push, \npull, carry, grasp and finger objects. Subject to frequent vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to \nfumes, dust or mist. Must be able to differentiate colors, speak and hear.
